The historic Doral Mountain Hotel emphasizes the vitality of the past

Mount Doral, Florida-The Lakeside Inn in Mount Doral is one of the oldest hotels in Florida.

“When you look around, all our buildings will definitely give you a feeling of going back in time,” shared Dylan Gamez, marketing and public relations manager.

The inn was built in 1883 and originally had 10 rooms on the first floor. Now, this hotel on the shore of Lake Dora has 90 rooms. 

"This is just where people want to go, right on Lake Dora," Gamez explained.

In the early years, the Lakeside Inn was considered the center of activity in Mount Doral. Some people even say that Alcapone will stay overnight.  

The hotel has received many VIPs over the years. President Coolidge stayed at the Lakeside Hotel for a month after leaving office.

Many residents call The Hotel Jacaranda a jewel in the center of Avon Park. Babe Ruth is a frequent visitor to spring training trips; Alcapone and Clark Gable have also stayed in hotels.

"For him and his wife, this is a great place to relax and get away from the madness of DC," Gamez said.

There are rumors that there is rum going on, and there may be an underground bar in the basement. 

"This is something that people often check. They pull up the carpet. A small area of ​​the wooden floor has been replaced, so people are always curious if they will sneak in."

This hotel prides itself on commemorating its past and keeping it alive through wall decorations and historical photographs.

"Places like this are very important and worth saving. Being able to visit these places and keep them alive is very important for our future development," Gamez shared.
