Lebanon-A 38-year-old man from Bradford, Vermont told police on Thursday that he was facing arson and other charges after arson in the lobby of the Lebanese Police Station on Poverty Lane.

The Lebanese police said in a press release that Michael Fleming was released on personal bail after being arrested for the theft, but refused to take a ride home.

The press release stated that when the police left him in the lobby area, Fleming used the lighter he took out of his backpack to light a box of facial tissues at the dispatch window. According to the police, Fleming also poured hand sanitizer on the burning box to encourage the flames.

When Cpl. The press release stated that Ryan Brewster pushed Fleming away and tried to extinguish the flames. Brewster’s boots and trouser legs caught fire. Fleming threw a bottle of disinfectant at Brewster and another police officer. Police said the flames burned part of the carpet and lobby floor.

Police said Fleming was detained in protective detention and taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and charged with arson-a felony-and two misdemeanors-a simple assault and contempt. Fleming was later taken to Grafton County Jail awaiting interrogation.

Fleming was also accused of breaking into a Bradford business and a house in western Lebanon in June, while he was released on bail on other charges.
